My tax returns this year is pretty nice—about $1200, which is about double what I’m used to. My plan is to put a good chunk of it toward paying down bills (student loan and medical bills) and use the rest to get a bookshelf and storage drawers for my craft supplies. If I can set up my little desk with some storage drawers in my bedroom, I can move my sewing machine and supplies out of the kitchen and have a real workspace! I’m also going to put a couple hundred toward a new laptop, because mine is old and really dying, and Ben said he would pay half of the cost of a new one for me :)

Not very exciting or glamorous, but I’m pretty stoked! Having a real workspace will help keep me motivated to sew more often, since it won’t be a pain in the ass, and the new computer will help a lot in keeping my business running. Doing almost everything from my phone is not so great, I’ve even lost a sale because Etsy’s email didn’t push to my phone until almost 3 weeks after the person sent it! My current laptop will decide not to turn on for a week or two at a time, doesn’t like to run some websites like Netflix or Hulu at all anymore, and runs things like Etsy and Tumblr (which I use for my business) very very slowly. It takes forever to open programs, or close windows, and I’ve defragged and virus scanned and the whole 9 yards many times to no avail. It’s just getting old, and dying. Le sigh :(
